Hi, Clare,
Thanks for posting and for your support for my books. I hope you'll want to read your way right through my long list -- 108 at this point, with #109, THE FAVORITE, due out in January.
I can't tell you what to write about, but I can advise you to write about things you know -- friendships among kids, favorite books and movies, school, friends. Good luck! Writing is a gtrat profession, or even just a hobby.
Kindest regards, -----Gordon Korman-----

Glory JansenStudent Letter to the Author:
Dear Gordon Korman,
Your book, The Contest: Everest, has helped me relate to more content in the book and the world around me. I have also read some of your books before, and I tend to love them; some of them being: Slacker, Super Gifted, and Unplugged. I wonder if some things from Everest are true? This book kept me reading, and I\'m not a big fan of reading. I really like your book, and here are some reasons why.
Everest is a great book because I am able to see the great yet small details that help keep the reader interested. For example, each character has a different personality, and the climbers use their different characteristics to help them overcome their challenges. My favorite character was Dominic because of his determination and effort he shows to win.
I can relate this book to myself in multiple ways, one of them being a cross-country meet. I was running down a hill, and I tripped over something rough, dropping five places. I was determined to get those places back but wasn\'t able to. By the end of the race, I was only 1 position back from where I started, which meant I claimed four of my positions back out of the five I lost. I can relate this to the book because you need to set your own goals to beat, not just win, the race.
Thank you for writing this great book that has helped me view my challenges differently. This book is one of my favorite books I have ever read and I have never liked books. My big takeaway from this book is that you can do anything if you are dedicated to and willing to do it. Thank you for this book!
Sincerely,
Nolan grade 8

Hi, Nolan,
Thanks for posting. I'm pleased to hear that you enjoy my books and that EVEREST in partcular made a hit with you.
Your questions: Mount Everest is real, and the description of high-altitude mountaineering is real. The rest -- the actual story -- is fiction, including all the characters. But you are SO right! Attempting an ascent of Everest calls for a special kind of fearlessness and just plain guts!
Thanks again,Nolan, for your support for my work. -----Gordon Korman-----
