Rick KrebsHi Gordon,
I've never written a message to an author before. But your novel Faker demands it. After reading a number of novels with my now 12 year-old son Max--novels chosen because they were selected as part of OBOB (Oregon Battle of the Books) or considered exemplary fiction for a young person--nothing I have read compares with this book. It is a masterwork of storytelling, and one that does so not through the vehicle of dragons, magic, extreme environments, time travel, or any of the other common tropes in YA fiction, but with an insightful, intimately human, and thoroughly realistic exploration of family and relationships. You prove that life, meaning, and connection are right in front of us, if we choose to open our eyes and hearts to them. A "thank you" is hardly enough, but I am otherwise left speechless.

Thank you, Rick. I hope your son enjoyed the book as well, and that both of you will sample the rest of my long list -- 108 titles and counting! Just go to THE BOOKS section of this website and take your pick. Promise: no dragons, no magic. (Or hardly any.)
Thanks again. -----Gordon Korman-----
