    Pokman

    Dear Gordon,

I am a Grade 6 student. My name is Pokman. I am doing a book club research, and I recently read the book that you wrote called, "Restart". At first, I felt worried about Chase because he lost his memory. But later, I think that it was a good chance for Chase to be a new person.

I think that Chase is very lucky person as he fell of the roof but he stayed alive. He went to the hospital and they discovered he had amnesia. Chase is also a very self-reflective person. He found out that he was very rude and naughty, but he reflected upon himself and became a new person. He found that his old friends are not nice, and he decided to play with other people. He made new friends.

I learnt that belonging is very important. When Chase went back to his school, some students were scared of him, and a person even smashed a frozen yogurt on him. Because of amnesia he didn't know why people were scared of him. In real life, everyone in my class is kind and nice which made me feel like I belonged right away when I joined new school in August. We need to accept different people and communicate with them.

At last, I want to ask you a question. If you were Chase, what would you do after you got amnesia? This interests me because different people have different opinions. I think I would take this opportunity to be a different person like Chase did.

Thank you for writing "Restart". I hope that you can write more stories so I can read them!

    Your reader,

    Pokman

    Hi,Pokman,

Thanks for your letter and the intricate details about RESTART. I'm glad you enjoyed the book so much. That's why I write -- for my readers' enjoyment. I've written a long list of books, Pokman. Go to the BOOKS section of this website and you'll find all the titles -- 108 of them so far! -- and you can make your choices.

Your question: What Chase did during his recovery from amnesia was what came naturally to him -- he became a much nicer person. I would hope I'd be the same!

Thanks again for posting!                                                                                -----Gordon Korman-----
