Angela QuigleyHi,
I just wanted to say that you came to my school Summit Heights in 1980 could have been 1979, you had just finished This can't be Happening at McDonald Hall. I loved the book then and having you come to my school library to read a chapter was amazing. I have to say what I have enjoyed more is now sharing many of your books with my 12 year old son. He does not love reading but loves being read to, so we do a combo he reads and I read every night. We have read many of your books and some have brought up interesting topics of conversation. So, I just wanted to say thank you for writing so many books!
Keep going,
Thanks
Angela

The way you describe reading to your son brings back memories for me. I was read to by my Mom because I was a lazy reader. It went on until I was 11. Then, at 12, I started writing my own. Book #100 is due out next summer -- THE FORT. Time flies when you're busy, right?

So, that is my first question. Might you come to NYC soon?
Then I saw Angela’s post and had to follow with roughly the same story. I read MacDonald hall when I was 10 or so and was so impressed with the book - I remember receiving it, having it In my hand, how the cover looked - scholastic Apple? - and reading it - and my amazement at our relatively on-par ages at the time you published. It helped to be in the can-do decade of the 80’s but now I knew, I just knew, that I could write awesome fiction too.
I didn’t. But it was books like yours which I gobbled up that made writing a breeze for me, and now I write for a living. My son loves your books and thank goodness there are so many. We really hope to see you here in the tri-state; I can’t think of a better way for them to learn about writing fame then seeing you read.
Thanks for working so hard at your calling!

Thanks for posting. I'm glad to hear from a long-time fan who is raising present-day fans. That's what we want to see!
Not only do I visit the tri-state area, I live in it! I'm on Long Island. The present local dates I have at the moment are: a Chester, NJ school visit on April 12th, and Levittown, NY, but not until October 21st & 22nd. I'm in NYC quite often, doing signings, but this year (and the past 2 years!) is different. The circuit is finally warming up and I'm starting to tour again. So maybe we'll be face to face one of these days. I hope so.
Thanks again for writing and for all that support, and all those kind words. -----Gordon Korman-----
