Thanks for posting and for your interest in my books.

I never give too much information about my books while they're still in the writing stages. It's just a policy I've always maintained. I can tell you that my very newest release, out only a few days, is OPERATION: DO-OVER, and it's a story about friendship, about friendship gone bad, and about time travel and a second chance to make things right.

I called my 100th book THE FORT because it's about a group of kids who find a very special place and that's what they name it.

1. It took about 7 months to complete OPERATION DO-OVER. I'm glad you enjoyed it. It was fun to write, too, and a little tough keeping track of the time periods!

2. My first book was called THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL. It started out as my 7th grade English project when I was 12. It ended up the first in a series of 7 books -- the Bruno & Boots series. And the first of what will be a 100-book bibliography with the publication of THE FORT at the end of June, 2022.

3. That was back in 1978. (I'm not 12 any more!)

4. I thought I WAS writing for adults. My publisher thought otherwise. I like writing for middle grade. I guess my heart is still back in middle school.

5. My ideas for stories, characters, etc., com from plain old hard work and a lot of thinking and plotting. No big mystery; it's just work. And my thinking while writing new material is really simple. I'm doing the job I chose back in 7th grade. I still love what I do -- I've never regretted my choice to be an author.
