    I tell everyone that I don't have a favorite book, that I like all of them, but ... your question is different. You're asking which was the most fun to write.  They were all fun, in varying degrees, just like they were also all a big pain and a whole lot of work! But I had the most laughs out of WHATSHISFACE, just creating the character of Roddy.


    Should you read SLACKER? Sure! And its sequel, LEVEL 13. And everything else on my list of (almost) 100 titles! Some of my readers think SLACKER is my funniest book ever. Let me know what you think, OK?

    Before I was a writer, I was a kid just like you, a 6th grader. I wrote my first book, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, in 7th grade when I was 12, and a writer is the only thing I've ever been.

    Your questions: My favorite books to write. Hmmm. I do enjoy them all, you know, but I really had a great time with the SWINDLE series. The stories were fast-moving and exciting, and I grew very fond of the characters. As for my favorite character -- there are quite a few, but I think I'd choose Malik from the MASTERMINDS series. He turned out to be so very human that he almost wrote his own part!
