I know that you made a RESTART 2, however just an idea maybe you can make a different version of RESTART 2 but Chase Ambrose is the same Chase Ambrose he was when the first book ended. This time though, he gains all his memory back and starts to hang out with Aaron and Bear again. He starts doing all the horrible stuff he used to and Shoshanna, Brendan, and Josh are trying to stop him from doing them. Thanks for writing. I hope you'll all want to read many more of my books. Watch for my #100, THE FORT, coming June 28th!
Your questions:
1. Time had to pass somehow, right? And I had to show it passing? That seemed like a sensible way.
2. My personal favorite growing up was John D. Fitzgerald, who wrote THE GREAT BRAIN series. I also admired Judy Blume and Beverly Cleary.
3. My wife and I have 3 kids, ages 23, 20, and 17, boy-girl-boy.
4. I still have hopes that RESTART will find its way to the screen, either movie or TV. There's a lot of interest in it with film companies, so let's all keep a good thought, OK?
5. I plan very thoroughly before I ever start to write. When I finally start writing, my book is VERY well-planned, and I know exactly where the story is going. I write "toward" my pre-planned ending. And there's no big mystery about it. It's just work.
OK? Thanks again, people. -----Gordon Korman-----

I am a high school English teacher who has been a fan of your work for years. I recently came across Restart while researching future summer reading selections for our school-wide reading. I believe our students would really relate to the novel, and the idea that one may "restart" at any point with different choices.
My question is this: would you ever consider revising the novel by making Chase a ninth grader on the Varsity team? My extensive reading of the novel leads me to believe that this would be only a minor tweak to remove the middle school references. I have taught at both middle and high schools, so I promise you, the behaviors your characters exhibit hold true to each demographic. I would liken the process to Trevor Noah's YA adaptation of Born a CrimeI, although your plot nor language really need any shifting.
Your writing is so engaging for all age levels, and my school is considering Restart as our SR choice. Thank you for giving students a passion for words and telling stories that are not always easy but still a reality.
Dr. Suzan A. Pigford, Hartsville High School

This is a really intriguing idea - to release a slightly modified high school version of RESTART that would appeal to an older audience.
I have not yet heard any buzz about this at Scholastic, but I'll keep my eyes and ears open. I know publishers are always looking for ways to build broader audiences!
Thanks for your post!
