RuchamaHey GK, it's me (not Jade).Over Shabbos I read the first book of Mastermind and I loved it. But I still have a question: even if five osiris experiments escape and are miraculously and somehow not found, Hammerstrom can still do his experiment and make up a story for the rest of Serenity that Hector, Tori, Eli and the rest died in some freak accident. I hope to finish the rest of the series soon and find out what happens.

It's necessary to stop the "bleeding" first, or the experiment is in permanent peril. For one thing, the escapees' genetic heritage makes them dangerous to Serenity and the whole project, including the perpetrators. The whole thing definitely has to shut down until the leak is plugged.

It's not likely that Hammerstrom can escape the police -- human cloning is illegal on a worldwide basis. And setting up Serenity took all the years the babies were growing up plus buckets of cash. The town doesn't move easily. Or cheaply.
