    Dear Gordon Korman,

I am writing to you from an Elementary school in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.  My grade 4 book club and I just finished reading your book I Want to go Home.  We absolutely loved it!  The children loved it so much they wanted a sequel to be written or a movie made based on the book.  The following are some of their ideas for a sequel:

1.I Want to go to Camp.  At the end of the book Chip said you’ll have to sneak into camp to Rudy because Rudy said I might come back to camp next year so my idea is for Rudy and Mike to find each other again and try to get into camp.

    1. Mike and Rudy are all grown up and are counselors at camp Algonkian Island.  They will help some other kids escape from camp Algonkian.  One of the kids should be camp director for the day.  Rudy played chess with the kid and let the kid win so he can be camp director.

    2. Warden retires and Rudy becomes the new camp director.

    3. Same camp from someone else’s perspective (perhaps Chip), each chapter could be someone else’s perspective.

    4. Mike Webster’s sister goes to Silver Lake, and Rudy’s brother goes to Algonquin. They meet on the night of the dance, Rudy’s brother likes Silver Lake more, and Mike’s sister likes Algonquin better. So Rudy’s brother gets lessons on how to be like a girl, and gets a new look so he can fit in with the girls, and Mike’s sister gets a lesson on how to be like a boy, and gets a new look too!!  Their swap was successful!! Until Mike’s sister’s hair started to grow, and Rudy’s brother did not know how to put on the makeup anymore!! They each get a week of work detail!!

    5. Chip is head counselor (camp director) and Rudy and Mike are counselors.  Mike and Rudy realize how tough it is to be a counselor.

    6. Rudy is grown up and Rudy’s brother goes to camp and Rudy helps his brother to try and escape from camp.

    7. Rudy camp director and Mike is the head counselor and there are no rules!

    8. The sequel is exactly what Rudy wrote in the original letter to his parents at the beginning of the book.

Thank you for taking the time to read our letter.  We think you are a great author!

    Sincerely,

Ms. Harrington, Luke, Alex, Scott, Will, Fiona, Avery, Norah, and Megan (Mary Queen of Peace School)
