    Dear Mr. Korman,

         Hello, I\'m a starting writer.  I love to read, but for over a year I forgot how fun it was.  Your books inspired me to start reading again.  I\'ve only read 4 of your works, but it was enough to make me want to read again.  My best friend isn\'t a big fan of reading like I am, their mom is really struggling to find books for them to read. I\'ve noticed that once they read a book they like they can\'t get enough of it.  They will read it over and over, or if it\'s a series they\'ll read all of it.  Could you recommend any books for her?

    Thanks for posting. It's really nice of you to look for solutions for your friend.


    I can only talk about my own books, which have now reached the 100 mark, by the way, with the publication of THE FORT. I would recommend something in a series -- if they like one book, they might just want to read on. So how about my SWINDLE series, which has 8 titles. Or my older stuff, the Bruno&Boots Macdonald Hall books -- 7 volumes. Or a big public favorite from Scholastic, THE 39 CLUES. There are dozens of volumes there -- it's a multi-author series that I've done several books for. And the 3 books I'm the proudest of, my MASTERMINDS series.


    You didn't mention what age group we're talking about, but I think series is a good choice for people who read the same book over and over if they like something.

    Hey Gord! Is it true that you are going to be by the book festival thing in DC???!!! Also, I need advice for that book I posted a question about earlier.     You are right about the artwork on Unplugged! When it caught my eye on the Bookmobile, I took it home and thoroughly enjoyed the read.  At least 5 of my grandkids and great grandkids are 12 and 13.  We are going to start a fan club.  We'll have stories to talk about with each other.     You are right about the artwork on Unplugged!     Yes, I'm going to be there in DC, And the best part is that so is Jade, who will be attending with her Mom! It's awesome to think we could actually meet!


    Re: your story. It sounds to me that you didn't plan a long enough story to fill out a book. Would it be possible to add an event or another character to add some detail? Because "filling up space" shouldn't be happening. Sorry. Or maybe you've got a short story there rather than a novel? Give it a lot of thought back in the planning stage.


    As for what will happen to the clones in the future, don't you see the couples forming? I think Malik and Amber have been close for a long time. And the other two have been growing closer as they traveled together. They wouldn't have to explain their situation to each other, right? And if they marry and have kids, the kids don't have to know. As for the other kids, it's probably better that they don't tell, even their future spouses. Or, at least, that's the way I saw it at the time I wrote it.                                                                                                                                               -----GK-----

    Oh and yes! The National Book Festival! I really hope you (Ruchama) can come. You already must know, but it is free entry! It would be so cool to meet you along with Gord. Honestly, that brings a smile to my face because Gord is so cool, I can't believe I will meet him! You too (maybe). I am going to try to make more friends at the festival. I am also going to take a lot of notes while I am in DC for my one book idea. In this next week, I should probably plan as much as I can so I know what to look at and to look for. But I am still busy with my current book idea!



    Good news about that, too. I finished plotting/outlining! It will be 17 chapters if all goes to plan. I really like this book, because it is a trilogy and the most prominent colors are orange, green, neon purple, pastel yellow, and red. I know a lot more of the colors now that it is completely planned out

    I'm SO sorry the date doesn't work out for you! I should have realized it was a Saturday. But there will be other times, I'm sure. It's not possible for me just to show up at Pikesville or any other library, because a performance has to be scheduled, and also because expenses are involved -- there is a speaking fee, and also travel expenses.

    I'm SO sorry the date doesn't work out for you! I should have realized it was a Saturday. But there will be other times, I'm sure. It's not possible for me just to show up at Pikesville or any other library, because a performance has to be scheduled, and also because expenses are involved -- there is a speaking fee, and also travel expenses.
