LeilahHi, Gordon Korman! I really like your books. They are really funny! I heard you got your first book published when you were in grade 8. My friend and I like to write books and we were wondering how to get one published... How did you do it?

I can only tell you what worked for me. I wrote a story that I really liked. My Mom thought it had possibilities, and so did my 7th grade teacher. We typed it in manuscript form -- double-spaced, one side of the page only, and sent it to a publisher. They liked it, gave me a few bits of advice for some changes, and presto! It was a book. And that was a little more than 100 books ago!
My advice to you is to write a story that pleases and amuses you, give it to someone (or maybe more than one someone) you trust to read it and give you an honest opinion, and do exactly what I did...choose a publisher and send it to them. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
