    Dear Gordon Korman,

I have read many of your books and like them all. I  just finished reading, “The Fort” and I really enjoyed it. However, there’s one thing I don’t understand. Why did you take away the fort at the end of the book? The boys bonded a lot in the fort,  it could have stayed there little hang out spot. I really wish it could have stayed.

I look forward to hearing  from you!

    Hi, Logan,

I guess you like happy endings, right? The Fort had to go, but the bonding remains -- even with Ricky!

You had to know that the parents -- and the city government -- wouldn't let them keep it and use it. It was old, and possibly unsafe. (And you know what happens to a good thing when parents and authorities get hold of it!)

I repeat: The Fort served its purpose, and was there when they needed it. It had to go, but the bonding of the boys? That was forever.

Glad you liked the book.                                                                 -----Gordon Korman-----
