Michael GoldsteinHi!
My name is Michael and I just read your book “I want to go home” for a school project (I am in 6th grade). I really enjoyed it. I was wondering if your inspiration was that you went to overnight camp. Did you go to overnight camp? If yes, did you want to go? Did you like it? Which camp did you go to?
I read your book because my mom suggested it. She read your books when she was a kid and loved them too.
thanks,
Michael

Thanks for posting. I'm glad to hear that I WANT TO GO HOME made a hit with you. I hope you'll want to read many more of my books. My list has reached 100 titles, which is something I find it hard to believe myself!
I didn't want to go to camp, but I went. And I definitely wanted to go home. As for the name of the camp, I can't recall. But it was in the Laurentians, north of Montreal, which was my home town back then.
Thanks again, Michael. -----Gordon Korman-----

I made you a letter talking about how your book change my life in a good way for a school project here it is. Dear Gordon Korman,
My life was changed after the book War Stories. It made me think that the world changed when WW2 happened. This book hit me hard when I was reading about their travels through France and when Trevor’s great-grandfather told him and his dad about the pain and suffering that he went through to fight for his country. All the details from the hedge rows to the bullets flying through the air.
I never got to see my great-great uncle Pete. What I know of him is he served in WW2, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a marine which is the hardest branch of the military to get to. He was a Sergeant in the Marines. Stories my grandfather tells me about how he endured that suffering away from his family and his thoughts about how he might never make it home again. My grandfather was a war hero. So as my great great uncle Pete. Everything my grandfather told me about my great-great uncle Pete was amazing. All the great things he did to make this town and country a better place. In some parts of the book I thought I was actually there. Like the part was there doing the ceremony and it got shot up by this guy that didn’t like Trevor\'s grandfather. That was one of the many parts of this book that made me feel like I was there in the crowd. I can relate to this part because my dad is a police officer and the police came and had to protect the crowd from the danger of the attack.
I the characters that you put in your book I can actually relate to. Most books I can’t. The great-grandfather made me relate to my own grandfather how he acts and how he tells stories about when he was in the war. I can also relate to Trevor because I like to travel and I love my grandfather\'s stories.
This book gave me a major impact on my life by the details of the war stories down to the scene of the story. I could make connections left and right in every paragraph. I was thinking about my own life and trying to compare it and it matched up pretty closely to this book. This book made me like to read more than I ever did before. I really think you should keep writing books like this one.
Sincerely,
Dylan Niznik

Thank you for your support for WAR STORIES. I appreciate it very much. I hope you'll go on to read many more books in my long list.
