Hello Mr.Korman, I am currently writing an essay over you, I am in the 7th grade and am wondering what comes easy and what is hard when writing a book for you.  Thank you for your time.

    Hi, Alejandro,

Great question! I should tell you that it all comes hard, from thinking up the plot, to coming up with the setting and characters, to working out the action. But actually, the characters come easily, and then -- if you can flesh them out so they're real people -- they help tell the story. Once you have that sorted out, your story usually takes off.

I think the whole secret is planning. If you plan your story, your people, and your ending very well, the book doesn't write itself, but it helps you along. So I guess the answer is that it starts out hard, and then gets easier as you write.

OK? Thanks for your interest.                                                                        -----Gordon Korman-----
