These are student questions from One School/One Book.  Many of these students can identify with your characters in our area.

    1. Are any of the events in The Fort something you have experienced?

    2. Are any of the characters real people or based off of people you have known?

    3. Do you know anyone with the disorders you have put in this book?

    4. Do you have any family?

If these actually get answered, it would be amazing! Isabella

Hi, Sheila Martin, and of course, Isabella -- I try to answer all my fan mail.

    1. THE FORT is strictly fiction, which means I made it all up.

    2. I think I probably borrow bits and pieces from people I know -- certain phrases, likes and dislikes, quirky things. But it would be just a tiny bit here and there. The characters are just as fictional as the story.

    3. I admit I knew of someone like the stepfather, whose temper ran hot and cold like that. And I never knew anyone like Mitchell, but I've read a lot about his disorder.

    4. I have 1 wife and 3 kids, ages 24, 20, and 17, boy-girl-boy. And I also have a Mom and a Dad of my own.

I hope that covers everything you wanted to know. If there's anything else, you know where to find me -- right here!

                                              Regards,                                                          -----Gordon Korman-----
