Sounds like you've been doing some writing and finding it a grind.
How do I do it? Hey, I do it for a living, so I do it like some Dads go to the office, or out on the road, or to the factory. I do it for a living. I don't do it every day -- only most days, when I have a book in development. And when I run dry (EVERY writer runs dry at some point) I go to the gym, or run around the block, or fire up the old grill and cook something for the family. If the Giants are in town, I go to a football game.
As for editing, that's easy. I arranged to have my Mom born before me. She's a great editor. When I self-edit, I often read my manuscript out loud because it helps to hear what it sounds like. And let's not forget the fact that I have a couple of amazing editors who are with my publishers. Without them I'd probably be aggravated, frustrated, and miserable, which sounds like the way you're feeling right now!
Patience, patience. -----GK-----
