Hi Gordon!

I've loved books and reading for as long as I can remember, but your Island series is one that sticks out as a formative experience. I remember being no more than ten and reading the scene where Luke gets the bullet out of Will's leg, and then turning right back to the beginning of the chapter to read it again.

I've reread those books so many times. I'm now an adult who writes stories, and I love to put my characters through similar painful and traumatic experiences. Thank you for recognizing that there are kids who like that sort of thing and giving them things to read!
