Hi Mr. Korman,

I hope to be an author someday, but I\'m worried if that requires to know classic literature. I wonder if it is necessary to be able to understand complex books that I have no interests in, in order to become a writer.

Puzzling question. I was 12 when I started to write, and I knew nothing of classical literature. But I know it now, and I honestly believe that whatever you learn can only add to your craft. Don't shut out anything -- that's my advice. You'd be robbing yourself of something important to your worldview.
