You will probably have seen my comments on it from the "Book Club" page, but (spoiler alert) Theo is a great character. I didn't realize he was a nerd 'till the end but I should have figured since he's a plant encyclopedia. I think that twist about them NOT getting their memories back was one of the most important lessons. 'Cuz even if the fight is over, we're still left with the scars. We just have to learn to see the awesome in them. I really like the realization that it was not Coral Reef's fault (yes, I'm calling him that) that his mom died. One year away from her death was a good place to start. Will there be a second book to this? I doubt it, it had a really solid ending on my part, but it doesn't hurt to ask. I have more to say but I've seriously got to get to my history homework. Thanks, Gord. This book made me feel an entirely different way from THE FORT. Both great ways. It's a testament to your skill that you can bring that sort of emotion in people, equally potent, but in two vastly different ways. If that made sense.
Be blessed,

I'm always happy when someone enjoys one of my books, especially a new release. But when the praise comes from someone important to me, well, that's icing on the cake! I'm so happy that MIXED UP made such an impression on you!
SPOILER ALERT --- you're right. The book stands well on its own. We can now believe that the boys will grow up, remain close because of circumstances and also the fact that they like and respect one another. and even Declan will have a future of some kind.
Thank you, Jade. And thanks for piloting the Book Club. I know it's hard to get kids together, especially in the middle of summer, and especially to read a hardcover!
