EmmaHi Mr. Korman
There is something popular in modern media that conflicts with my personal beliefs. I'm worried that I could potentially get hated for not including this thing in my books, and I've seen authors, actors, and artists upsetting many people even though it sprouts from a religious standpoint. I'm starting to wonder if I should write under a pen name or be very private if I ever do publish a book.
What would your advice be?

That's a tough one. It would depend on what target and age group you're writing for, and what the conflict might be. My advice would be to write what you write, and worry about what other people think of it when (and if) the time comes. After all, when you write your way, you're really being true to yourself, and that's a good thing. And if you're good with words and nuance, there are ways of presenting absolutely everything.

If I know what you're talking about, then I agree. It's a major problem. But, if I do know what you're talking about, then you should know, that I don't see it so much in books. More just when people talk and joke.
