Thanks for posting. Funny -- you've asked the question that my NYU professor in Creative Writing answered on Day One when I was a freshman. It's the question of why on person loves another person, and there is never an answer. It just is.

Not  very satisfying answer, but very true in literature. There is no reason for attraction. It just IS.

The idea for RESTART came from a desire to write about bullying in a "different" way. I wanted to show that life can be funny, and people can change. As for Chase's number, I guess it would be in the 20's or 30's because he's a running back, but I never gave him one.                                                                     -----Gordo Korman-----

Thanks for posting. Good question, but unanswerable. What makes some kids really nice, and some kids pushy and mean? If we knew that, we could make the world a better place, right? Aaron and Bear were probably so puffed up by their athletic successes that they thought they were better than everybody else.

They take a lot of preparation, a lot of people, and mostly a lot of money! But you'll be pleased to know that there is a film company that has optioned the film rights to RESTART, so we may see a movie one day. One question I have for you is... Why were Chase's parents okay with him sitting on top of the roof off the roof and why did they not think much about it?

Kim is attracted to Chase because she is. That's all the explanation necessary. No one ever has to explain their attraction to another person. It just IS. Aaron and Bear would likely be no more than 5'8", which is tall for 12-year olds. I haven't the slightest idea what their football numbers might have been. A & B would probably be linemen, and wearing higher numbers than Chase. Can I make a movie? No. But a film company just might be at it right now!             -----Gordon Korman-----

        We finished the book I think it was a good book... but it said chase was sitting on the roof when he fell and got diagnosed with retro-grade amnesia.  I was just wondering why you said you did not know he was in such a place. I am pretty sure that he was sitting on the roof.

KYLEE: Why did Chase steal the medal? Because (and I'm guessing, beause I was a good kid who stole nothing) he was a rotten kid who thought he could make some money by selling the medal. Remember -- he wasn't such a nice guy before his accident changed him.

LILY: Check again. It was the parents who would have had no idea where Chase was sitting, not me. I would have known where he was -- after all, I invented Chase, the medal, AND the roof!
