Hello-

I am the librarian at a 6-8 middle school. We are looking into reading your book, Linked, as a school. I love this book, and think that it would lead to some great discussions. We will be encouraging our families to read the book as a family, since each family will get a copy of the text. I was hoping to get some guidance with how to support students who may not be reading the text at home. Is it permissible to read aloud to students (given that they have a physical copy of the text) if it's posted in a password protected Google Classroom?

Hi, Amy. I'm thrilled that your school is considering LINKED!

The problem with posting a read-aloud of the book is that it might conflict with the audiobook rights. I don't hold those, so I technically don't have the authority to grant permission for that.

The audiobook rights are held by Recorded Books if you'd like to try to get in touch with them.

Sorry not to have more of a definitive answer for you. I'm not a legal expert. Perhaps someone in your district's administration might be able to help you with the legalities of what's posted on Google Classroom.

Your question: that's like asking me to pick my favorite among my children! I'm usually the most excited about the newest release, which is MIXED UP right now. But I have a soft spot in my heart for THE FORT, which was my book #100.
