And yes, I agree with you -- editing and correcting, and changing (maybe) your mind (and maybe not) is much harder than the actual creative process. Duller, too. And more like work. Yuck.

The book I'm working on right now will be #106 when it finally comes out. Too soon to tell you about it. Sorry.

Gord, I'm editing my manuscript (can you even call it that?) / first draft right now. How do you know if it's correct and all? Like, good enough to query? Could you give me a guess? (By the way, do you just read random people's manuscripts? I figured not, but I saw somebody ask about it. Figured it was a special case, but I need help anywhere I can get it, so if you have ANY sort of resource that would be helpful to a baby writer like me, please do send.)

I can see you're finding out that you're your own biggest critic. There is no such thing as a perfect manuscript. You do the best you can. When you're re-reading it, you know full well when you come upon something that could be said differently, even better. But you're the decider. You're in charge. There is no right way. There is only YOUR way.

Is there someone you trust, someone whose opinion matters to you? A teacher? An older friend? A favorite aunt? Anyone who will be honest, even if he or she hates the ms, or thinks it needs more work?

Jade, I don't do this. Or, at least, hardly ever. But would it help if I looked over the first few pages? Or would it hurt? ---G---

I managed to get into the reedsy version. It's very emotionally demanding, very well done in the present tense (watch your tenses). The French "Ello" has to be "'Allo," by the way. And you've definitely crreated an unsettling mood and a character that the reader needs to see more of. Now that she seems to have followers ......

I liked it a lot. You have a tendency that all newbies have -- to overwrite just a bit, e.g. the leash can be just a leash, it doesn't have to be a blue leash.

I'm going to erase your message with the links. No sense awakening the world to a new novelist, at least not yet!
