I don't have a lot to say about this book. It's great and I've enjoyed it on every re-read.

This book marked another stage upward in readership age for GK's works. In the author blurb at the back, it was called Gord's first Young Adult novel. I'm not sure about that, as I think the two Bugs books could fit in that genre. They're more comical, but the main characters are in that same age range as in Don't Care.

I recall a guy in high school that reminded me of Mike Otis. Different physically, but similar attitude. I think there were probably days in school where I was like Mike Otis. "There are a lot of things at this school I don't understand" is a great line and makes me laugh every time. I don't know if Kilgour Secondary was a hat-tip to Vonnegut or not, but the line that included "president of the galaxy" seemed like one for Adams.

Gord, had you moved to NYC at this time and was Paul's transition from Saskatoon to New York a mirror of your own experience?
