    Hi Gordon Korman,

I am a grade 6 student. For a school project (First Lego League), we are trying to get reluctant readers interested in reading. To get readers interested in reading we have decided to make a quiz that tells the reader what genre is best for them including book examples. For example one of the sections could be fiction and include your book ReStart. Is there anything you would like us to share about your book?

I look forward to hearing from you

    Hi, VS,

That is a VERY worthy project!

The thing about RESTART is that people describe it as a book about bullying. And that's true. It is. But I also think it describes how people can change. And, more importantly, I meant it to be about second chances. Bcause Chase has changed, his world  and the people in it will give him a new shot at living and learning and being a friend.

OK? I hope you get a lot of author replies. Good luck!                          -----Gordon Korman-----

P.S. There is also a lot of funny stuff in RESTART. Don't miss the laughs, please!

    Hi Mr. Korman,

I have read a few of your books and absolutely love your writing. Some of my favorite books include The Fort, Ungifted, and Linked. I am in the 6th grade and am doing an Author Study. I selected you as my author. I have a few questions for you:

    • What is your favorite book that you have written?

    • Did you want to be an author when you grew up?

    • What inspired you to start writing books?

I really enjoy the books you write and hope that there are still many more to come!

    Sincerely,

    Sean

    Hi, Sean,

Thanks for posting and for choosing me for your author study.

    Your questions:

    1) I honestly have no favorite among my books. Having said that, I admit I'm proudest of the MASTERMINDS series and my 100th book, THE FORT.

    2) At the start, I wanted to be an astronaut; then I saw myself as some sort of scientist. And after the Grade 7 assignment when I wrote th story that became my first book, before I had a chance to choose to be a writer, I already was one! It was all very weird!

    3) Back to 7th grade -- we had an assignment to write what the teacher called "a novelette." I got carried away and quite accidentally wrote 100+ pages. I've been writing ever since.

OK? Hope that';s helpful. Thanks again, Sean.                                           -----Gordon Korman-----
