Hi Gordon,

My wife grew up reading the MacDonald Hall books, and now our son is of the age to enjoy them we have been able to get some from the library. But as we enjoyed them so much, we wanted to own the set. But boy, oh boy, can you get them as a set, or even fully individually, forget it ! Not even on ‘bay, ‘river or ‘digo…. (even the links from your Classic section).

It appears Scholastic last issued the set back in 2013 but it is long out of print…. Have you gone away from the books that started it all for you, or are there plans to re issue/print them or rights issues? Getting your newer books is not a problem. Please help /advise.

The reason is even more complicated than you might imagine! It lies with the image of Sir John A. Macdonald himself, and whether or not his history is something we celebrate and/or are ashamed of.

I'm hoping Bruno & Boots will make their reappearance. Don't lose hope. I think cooler and saner heads are going to prevail.

Good idea, Saul, even though I don't see me writing a new one. Don't you think Bruno & Boots as young gentlemen might turn out to be conventional and even (gasp!) dull?

Let's keep a positive thought and hope the series will come back. A lot of people have been asking me for them.
