Thanks for posting.
I played hockey from age 7 to age 13. I was at right wing.
As for funnier, or jokes, I like to think my different books have just the right amount. At least, it suits me. The readers have to decide for themselves. But if it's laughs you're after, read THE UNTEACHABLES rather than MIXED UP. The topic suggests how much humor I can use.

It sounds like you started to write before you had the story. If you know the whole story, if you plan it out carefully, event by event, right up until the climax and the ending, you won't get stuck at 117.
Don't be discouraged, but do realize that there's a certain amount of work that has to go into the planning before the writing can happen.
