Hi Mr. Korman, I just finished Unplugged and noticed the strong resemblance between the Oasis and modern religion. I’m just wondering if you could tell me about some of your thought process behind that? What inspired you to comment on religion? Did you plan the allegorical aspects from the start? Is it even intended to be read as social commentary, or am I reading too much into it?

    Hi, Brooklyn,

Thanks for posting. Sorry, but there isn't one ounce of religion in The Oasis. There are all kinds of places just like it, and they are havens for health nuts. It really wasn't an attempt at social commentary. Actually, I was making fun of one of my editors, who spends at least a week (and oodles of cash!) in a place just like it. Zero religion.

But I have to say I do see your point. It could be very Zen if someone ran it that way.
