Cathy LieblangHello Mr. Korman,
I am a 6th grade ELA teacher at Millburn Middle School. I have read several of your books to my students over the years. I am retiring this year and am ending it by reading The Fort. It's wonderful. It's also on the 2025 Caudill list, so all the kids will have one of the three necessary books read in order to be eligible to vote next year. A new student just started with us, Norah. She is from Haiti and only speaks French. Her family escaped the civil war going on there. By any chance could you help us obtain a copy of The Fort in French? One option is if you drop a pdf of the book into Google translate, and it will create a translated version. I know this is a lot to ask, but I also know you are the kind of person that if you can help a reader, you will. She is so bright and is trying so hard. I can't imagine what it is like for her to come to our most white school and not have anyone that can speak your language. So on her behalf, I had to ask. Thank you. My phone is 847-245-1600.

Thanks for posting. I'm pleased to hear that THE FORT has gone over so well with you.
At present, there is no French translation of THE FORT. I'm sure there will be one at some point, but I'm afraid I can't help you there. Also, I'm not permitted to provide a pdf for translation purposes. So I'm afraid your dilemma must remain just that.
I wonder if you might be able to find a French-speaking person who could catch Norah up, chapter by chapter, not with a literal translation, but with a sense of the progress of the story. No ideal, but a bit more helpful.
Sorry I can't be of more assistance. -----Gordon Korman-----
