I recently finished reading this book and it was wonderful. I do have a question about it though. How can the Lafleur children, who are trailing the Firestones throughout the book, be the great-grandchildren of Rene Lafleur when his entire family was wiped out, including his wife and 5 children? Did he remarry and have more kids? Did a child somehow escape the fire? If so, something about that should be mentioned in the story line. After finishing the book, I went back and reread those portions of the book to see if I missed anything, but couldn\'t find anything. Thank you.

    Hi, Mary,

Thanks for posting. I'm glad you enjoyed WAR STORIES.

You're right, of course. Another point might be that there were older children of Rene and his wife who were not living in the house at the time, and the current kids are their offspring. I should have been specific. I meant that Rene had another family after the tragedy.                                                         -----Gordon Korman-----
