I am in the middle of writing a murder mystery short story and just can't get motivated to write. . . what should I do????

Wow, that sounds tough!
Motivation is hard to define. I think you have to ask yourself about the work you've done so far. Are you satisfied with it, or do you find it's not as good as you had hoped it would be? I think that you would be enthusiastic about continuing the writing of the story if you thougt it was going well. The reason I say this is that I myself am most motivated to continue when I'm pleased with the finished product so far.
My advice is 2-fold. 1) Wait until you feel better about writing and try again. or 2)Read over what you already have, then give yourself an honest opinion about your work. And go from there.
