    Mr. Korman,

We love your books, and were wondering more about you. Have you ever faced personal hardships?

    Thanks,

    Brantley H.

    Hi, Brantley,

    Thanks for posting.

Your question is a difficult one to answer. Everyone has personal hardships that involve friends and family, and even disasters, and I guess I've had my share over the years. But the early ones were hardships too: I was a Canadian author struggling to become an American author. And I was involved in writing funny books when all anyone wanted to read was serious stuff about dead dogs. It was hard to fit in -- I actually don't think I did. I think the business changed and created a demand for books that were more like mine. Happy accident!

OK? Thanks again for your interest in me and my work.                                                        -----Gordon Korman-----
