E.W.The Island series is so good!
I haven't read book three yet, but I've read books 1 and 2 and they are amazing!
The series has to be my favorite series so far.
The books are really short though, but still amazing.
I'm still deciding whether The Masterminds or The Island Series is better.
The story is a lot like the story in Hatchet By Gary Paulson, only a few differences.

I just finished the first Book 1 of the ISLAND SERIES FOR KIDS.
i am thrilled someone (you) have written something for students that is so inspiring and meaty! I tutor students who think they are challenged. My efforts lead to my goal of finding reading exciting and meaningful in their lives. Most of my students probably won’t be able to read this book by themselves and I will read it to them in a meaningful way. They will totally become immersed in this fantastic book for middle schoolers. It is so wonderful to have stumbled on to you, Gordon. I am so grateful for your work. I started this one last night and could not put it down.

Thanks so much for your message. ISLAND was written almost 25 years ago, and it's still making its mark in Canadian and American schools. If it's a hit with the kids, I recommend EVEREST, also a trilogy, and the 3 books of DIVE as well. They were also very popular, but ISLAND remains the prominent one.
Good luck with it! Teaching kids to enjoy reading/stories is such a wonderful occupation. I can see how much it means to you.
