Sean LynamHi there,
My name is Sean Lynam and always start my year with my 4th graders by reading I Wanna Go Home. The kids absolutely love this book every year. My question is-have you ever thought about a part 2 for the book or making a new book with Rudy Miller's brother Jeffrey attending the camp with Rudy? Thank you for your amazing books and sharing them with us.

Thanks for posting and for your loyalty to I WANT TO GO HOME and Rudy Miller. I've often thought of a sequel, but somehow never got around to it. I should remind you that I was 15 when I wrote it, and that was 45 years ago -- we can hope that my mindset has matured. Not too much, I hope! The next release, OLD SCHOOL, will be Book #105, which sounds like a lot, even to me!
Thanks again for your support for my work, and my thanks to your students as well.
Bst regards, -----Gordon Korman-----

This is the greatest book I have ever read. It is also my fathers favorite book. You have created a novel that still is incredible despite being made in the 80's. I first read this book when I was eight and my father still finds it hilarious at 54. Rudy Miller is the best character you have ever created and you made one book on him. You made seven bruno and boots books. You also gave bugs potter a sequel despite I want to go home being significantly better with a lot more potential for a sequel. (bugs potter is still a fantastic book) You ended the book with Rudy refusing to leave as he can't admit that chip and the counselors kept him there. He tells Mike he will escape, give himself a point and return to try again. You ended it with Rudy saying "see you next year chip". It's a crime against humanity how little you did with Rudy's character. He deserved at least a trilogy or even more. I understand the book was a while ago but you are still writing books. I am sure you could find more for Rudy to do in his second or third years at camp. You have a massive catalog of books that you could draw inspiration from. Your greatest book had been set up for a sequel yet you let it sit. It is not too late. S
Sincerly,
Alex Hilliard

Thanks for posting. I've decided to take all that scolding as a compliment to I WANT TO GO HOME. A lot of people have said the same thing -- they want more. I haven't written more because escaping (again) from camp would likely be repetitive. Some people have even asked me to send him to Macdonald Hall so he can meet Bruno & Boots. My readers have strong opinions, and they're not too shy to share them!
The fact is that I wrote that book when I was 15, and that was a very long time ago. I don't think I could wriggle back into Rudy Miller Mode at this point. So if you want more of Rudy Miller's antics, please go to the Book Club that's forming at the top of Page 1 and join in on the discussion. It should be fun.
And thanks for being such a long-time fan of an elderly book! -----Gordon Korman-----
