Todd Swanson's Fifth Grade Awesome Readers

    First off, Happy Early Birthday!!!

Secondly, our reading group just finished reading Schooled and LOVED IT!!!!!  We were talking about how great a sequel to Schooled would be where Cap goes to high school (You could name it High Schooled!).  Are you considering doing a sequel to Schooled?   If not, PLEASE DO!  We loved Schooled so much and want to know what happens next.....and we need more of Cap Anderson.

Thank you for writing one of our favorite books of all time!

I'm not sure if he's writing a sequel to Schooled or not, but I do think Mr. Korman's writing a book called Old School. Could be related, so I'm hoping it is. :)

Here is what we found for the summary of Old School....sounds like the same premise, different circumstances.

From the New York Times bestselling author of The Unteachables comes a hilarious story about a boy who is homeschooled in his grandmother’s retirement community…until he is forced to go to public school.

Dexter Foreman is twelve going on eighty. He has lived at The Pines retirement village with his grandmother since he was six years old, and as a result he gets along better with senior citizens than kids his own age. He's homeschooled by the residents up until the day the county’s truancy officer shows up and announces that Dex has to go to a “real” school, to the local middle school.

At school, Dex sticks out like a sore thumb. He dresses like a grandpa (and can be just as cranky). His taste in movies and music is decades out of date. Only a few students—like Gianna Greco, a reporter at the school’s newspaper—find him intriguing. For most, he is either a weirdo or a target.

Dexter would do anything to return to his old life at The Pines. But when his wish finally seems to be coming true, his old and new worlds collide in a way that surprises everyone—Dexter most of a

Hi, Mr. Swanson & 5th Grade, plus Morgan and Todd,

There is no sequel to SCHOOLED at the moment, but I wouldn't rule it out completely. SCHOOLED was written back in 2006, so it might take me a while to get back into the right mindframe. Would you accept an indefinite "maybe?"

    Not a sequel, Morgan.

And thanks, Todd, for posting the review of OLD SCHOOL. As everyone can see, it's not a sequel, but I guarantee the laughs, and even a bit of mystery. Release date: mid-January 2025.

                                          Regards, people,                                                             -----Gordon Korman-----
