Faye KroshinskyHi Gordon-
Shana Tova - Happy New Year!! I hope you are doing well and have had a wonderful past 40 years. I have followed your work over the years! I am writing to see if you (or anyone you know) might have any time to talk to my daughter Aviva who recently graduated from college. She is interested in young adult literature and wants to learn more about the publishing end and possible entry level positions. I look forward to hearing from you!

Happy New Year to you and yours! Thanks for your longtime loyalty to my work.
Actually, what I write isn't Y/A; it's Middle Grade -- like Junior High age.
What Aviva might do is get hold of a library reference book on Writers' Markets, and see who publishes the genre she's interested in, and whether or not they are open to hiring for entry level positions. Addresses and even some of the names of contact persons are in there. The answer to what she's looking for is a job in publishing, obviously, and I think they're plentiful. Part of the reason is that they are generally poorly paid at lower levels, and therefore there is a large turnover. But you have to start somewhere, right?
There are also the vanity companies that handle people who self-publish, and I would suggest that they would be looking for editors and cover art people as well. I don't have any information on them, but they're definitely a growing industry, and perhaps one that a newbie should investigate.
And that, in a nutshell, is all my "expertise" on publishing.
Regards, and congrats + best of luck to Aviva! -----Gordon Korman-----
