    Mrs. Townsend

    Mr. Korman,

My library classes participated in the Bookelicious event this past Tuesday and the kids had lots of questions that were not answered. I told them I would reach out and see if you could find time to answer their questions.

    1. How do you come up with names for your characters and plots to your books?

    2. How much longer do you plan to write books?

    3. Did your 7th grade teacher ever find out that you mailed your book to the company? What was his/her reaction?

    4. How long did it take to make Superteacher?

    5. Do you know any other authors?

    Thank you for your time!

    Mrs. Townsend

    Hi, Ms. Townsend & Class,

I think I answered all these, but cleverly erased my reply, so here I go again, with apologies:

    1. Names are easy. When all else fails, just scan the newspaper or a magazine. Mind you, I'm fussy about names for my characters. They have to sound just right to me.

    2. I think I said I'm not 12 any more, but I'm not 100 either, so I'm still planning more books.

    3. My 7th grade teacher sure did find out about my book! It became a bestseller, so the whole school knew. So did a lot of Canada and the United States.

    4. It took about 5 or 6 months to complete "Superteacher," That's about average for me.

    5. I know James Ponti, and Peter Lerangis, and Stuart Gibbs, and Rick Riordan and a lot of other authors.

And if I've answered this twice, I apologize! I get a lot of mail and answer it at breakneck speed, so I'm often in something of a daze. But I didn't want your kiddos to be disappointed.                 --GK--
