    Kelly Weller

Hello- I am 48 years old, from Houston originally and live in dallas.  As a child, you were my favorite author… you used to come to my reading teachers book store - stop, look, and learn, for autograph signings, I never missed one. I read every book. As an adult and mother of 3, I was so surprised some years ago to find you still writing books for kids and young adults- and now my children are fans as well.

One book in particular, masterminds, they just read.  I have a question about where you came up with the character’s name in that book - Eli Frieden.

i look forward to hearing back from you, but either way and most importantly, I just want to share how much your books meant to me and my continued love of books!

    Thank you!

    Kelly

    Hi, Kelly,

Thanks for posting. It's great to hear from a long-time fan who has kind of rediscovered that I'm still at it! My longevity as a writer is probably because my first book was written as a 7th grade English project when I was 12. That was 40+ years ago.

Re: MASTERMINDS. The name Eli Frieden just came to me and felt right, which is how I get most of my characters' names. Why? Does it have some special meaning for you?

Thanks again for reaching out, Kelly. I hope you and your 3 kids will continue enjoying my work.

                              Best regards,                                                        -----Gordon Korman-----
