I'll try, although my books are not "fun" to me.They're "work," because I write books for a living.
1. The first one, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL, was written by me when I was 12, as a 7th grade English assignment to write "a novelette." I got really into it, and accidentally wrote over 100 pages! In a few weeks, I had a bestseller, which was a pretty big deal!
2. I wrote THE CHICKEN DOESN'T SKATE after visiting a classroom that was raising a chicken as a study of the food chain. When it came time to eat the chicken, the whole class cried and refiused to kill it. (Good for them! I was on their side!)
3. The most fun was being a part of the author group that wrote THE 39 CLUES series. It was a lot of fun to read what someone else had written, and then carry the tale forward only to hand it over to the author who was going to continue the story. That'show the series was done, and it was super-fun!
What was NOT fun was coming to a point in a story where I hadn't planned it quite enough, and I wasn't sure where to go from the point I'd reached. Or working late into the night to get something finished because I didn't want to miss a deadline.
I hope that helps with your project. Thanks, Rosey, for choosing me as your favorite author.
Best regards, -----Gordon Korman-----

I do, but I'm not sure it will be good for your project!
I was 12, and in 7th grade, when our teacher asked us to write what he called "a novelette." I suspect what he wanted was a story that didn't end after the first page. I got carried away and quite accidentally wrote over 100 pages of a story I called "Bruno & Boots." It ultimately became my first book, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING AT MACDONALD HALL. That was 105 books ago, and more years than I care to remember! (Over 40!)
The thing is: I wasn't trying to be an author. I was trying not to flunk 7th Grade English!
Hope this is a little bit helpful. -----Gordon Korman-----
