Dear Gordon Korman,

As a class we read the novel Restart and it was so fun the way we stopped at each chapter and we were usually left with a cliffhanger! In class we got an assignment to write another chapter of Restart and this is what I came up with! (My sequel also ends with a cliffhanger!) I enjoyed this project so much that I am writing another chapter on my own from Shoshanna's perspective! I hope you enjoy my sequel!

CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

                                  Kimberly Tooley 

 

Brendan. 

     Okay, I know what you’re thinking. Brendan is so awesome. He is my knight in shining armor. The way he heroically saved me for the evil forces was mesmerizing. He is my hero. “Hi Brendan” I exclaimed. “Hey, Kimmy” he replied miserably. “Do you have another idea for a new YouTube video?” I asked eagerly, completely missing the fact that he looked devastated. “No! It’s  a tragedy!” Brendan wailed. “Huh? What’s a tragedy?” I inquired. “Well, I was starting a plan booklet for all of my new video ideas, and-” “And what?” Shoshanna interrupted. “AHHH!!!” Brendan exclaimed. We were so distracted that we hadn’t even noticed that Shosanna had walked into the room with Chase at her side. “‘And you’ll  stop telling us about your insane YouTube video ideas and stop roping us into being your “Cast and Crew” ?’” Shoshanna said sarcastically. “No. I was going to say that I have RUN OUT OF IDEAS!”  “Oh no! Brendan running out of ideas! Who would have thought!” Chase said. I couldn’t really tell if he was being sarcastic or not. “Anyway,” Brendan said as he reached into his pocket, “This memory stick contains a video about a video that I saw so I can make a video about the original video that I saw” “A whatty what what?” I asked, confused. “A video so you can make a video?” Shoshanna said skeptically. “Huh? I still don’t get it” I said, still confused. “A video about a video that I saw so I can make a video about a video that I saw” Brendan repeated. “Ummmm…….” I uncertainly. “It’s basically his new idea for a YouTube video” Chase explained. “Oh!” I exclaimed, brightening. “Wait,” Shosanna said, “I thought you said that you were out of ideas!” “Well, I meant to say that I was almost out of ideas” Brendan replied. “Whatever people! Just get on with the video!” Chase said impatiently. As Brendan started to cast the video onto the T.V. I wondered what the video could possibly be. All of a sudden the video started and immediately Shoshanna gasped in horror.

Thanks for writing and sending me your own short fiction. It was very funny, needs some editing, but I could see where it was going. I think I may be writing you a fan letter one day!

I'm glad you enjoyed RESTART and got so much out of the characters that you felt you wanted more from them. Good stuff! I hope you'll do a lot of reading and writing in the future.                       -----Gordon Korman-----
