Gordon,

I teach fourth grade in North Carolina. I have used Restart for two years now as my book of choice for my AIG reading book club. The different perspectives and points of view really challenge those higher level students. This year, my students were beyond inspired by you. After only a few chapters of Restart, they were hooked. This sparked many to read other books by you such as, The Fort and Ungifted. They wanted to write to you so we did! I will be sending those to you in the mail. We wanted you to know that your books have brought us closer together as readers, had us rolling with laughter (Leaf Man!), and inspired a lifelong love of reading. Keep writing because you make reading enjoyable, suspenseful, emotional, and assists me as an educator in teaching how to learn to love to read!

Thanks for posting. I'm really pleased to hear that your fourth graders are having a good time with RESTART. I hope a lot of them will go on to read many more of my books. There are a lot of titles out there -- the list now totals 105 with the recent release of OLD SCHOOL.

I'll be watching the mail for their letters. I like the feedback I get from kids, which is often a lot wiser than one would expect from such young people. I promise them as much of a reply as I can manage. Let them know that I thank them in advance for "reaching out."
