    Hi,Arda,

Thanks for posting. I'm not sure mine is the best advice, but it's solid.

Go to your public library and find a book on writers' markets. That book will have a list of every English language publisher. It will include the names of publishing companies, and their contact persons, and will also let you know the kind of books they're looking for, and whether or not they will read manuscripts that don't come through a literary agent.

Preparing your book: typed (printed) one side of the page only, double-spaced. Make sure it's clean -- no typos, grammatically correct, long enough to be an honest-to-goodness book. I think you should give it to someone you trust -- an aunt, a cousin or sibling, a teacher -- for an honest opinion first. Then write a covering letter, reasonably short, telling about yourself and your book, and send it to that publisher. Include a stamped envelope large enough for its return -- it may be rejected. That's always a possibility.

And that's how it's done for beginners.

There's also the possibility that you wish to self-publish it. In that case, you have to find a printing company that does that sort of thing, and find out what it will cost you. I have never self-published, so I'm no expert on how it works with regard to actually getting the book into circulation. There must be agencies that will do that for you, also for a price.

    Good luck, Arda!                                                                                                -----Gordon Korman-----
