    Mr. A

    Hello from Indonesia.

I am a 4th Grade teacher at an International school in Indonesia. Firstly, I need to tell you that your books are what got me started reading chapter books as a child. I was a reluctant reader, and my mother tried everything to get me to read books that weren't merely comics (not that there is anything wrong with comics). It was around Grade 6 when she plopped one of your books in my lap ('This Can't Be Happening...'), and the rest is history. Now, whenever I see myself in one of my students, your books are some of the first I suggest.

I know this may be a long shot, but I am writing to ask if you could send a short personalized message to one of my current students. His name is Mason, and - long story short - he has taken to your books like no other student I have ever encountered in my 15 years of teaching. When he started the year, his goal (and his mom's wish) was to read more chapter books. I suggested that he check out one of your books, which he did. At first, Mason took some time to get into it, but it didn't take too long before he devoured the rest of the book. Fast forward to the end of the school year, and Mason has almost read your entire library. More than that, he has inspired other boys in the class to check out your books! At any rate, Mason has indeed started to discover who he is as a reader, and it is in large part to your skills as an author.

On behalf of Mason and his mom, as well as myself (and my mom!), THANK YOU!

    Hi, Mason,

Your teacher, Mr.  A., has told me something about you -- basically that you've turned out to be my #1 fan! I'm really pleased to hear it, and hope that I can continue producing material that will please and amuse you and keep you reading. Coming up July 1 is SNOOP. Laughs, and even some mystery, guaranteed!

Thanks for your support -- especially for being the kind of reader every author needs!

                                        Very best wishes,                                                              -----Gordon Korman-----
